As of June 28 we are finalizing plans for a two-part workshop called Developing Agri-Nature Entrepreneurship The first workshop will be 6:30-8:30 PM on July 6, and the second 6:30-8:30 on July 20, in the Board of Supervisors chamber.
It is free and open to the public, and the audience may include anyone from those who may have future plans for a simple garden to grow produce to sell at the Farmer’s Market or sell eggs out of their home, to those who have a full vision for their farm or ranch as a agri-nature tourist business but want to learn the nuts and bolts of how to do that. All are welcome, including those with no real “plans” but just want to learn about the topic.
The July 6 event is titled "Growing Your Business", and will include talks by local experts on economic development. The July 20 event is titled "There is Help Out There", and will include talks on what are some of the specific steps to get things started.
Among the organizations scheduled to talk are the county health department, the county planning department, The Natural Resources Conservation Service, the University of California Cooperative Extension, and the Mariposa farmer’s market.
There will also be talks by past participants in the Mariposa Farm and Ranch tour, an ongoing project of MANA that was recently resurrected (post-Covid) in the Coulterville area. The Coulterville-Greeley Hill tour was well-attended and received great community support. MANA hopes to use this upcoming workshop to recruit locations for a 2023 fall tour, tentatively scheduled for mid-October.
